According to your IELTS result, I'm guessing that your English remains at beginner level. So I suggest you first memorize some frequently used daily expressions. Don't underestimate this. This could be the first and foremost step in improving your English. We've all been hearing something like, "Just talk. Don't worry about the mistakes you make". Yes, to some extent, this is correct. But they ignore the fact that this may lead to the repetation of mistakes. I personally incline to the opinion that before talking to a native speaker, you have to make sure you already have enough correct English input. This way, you would make faster progress towards your English proficiency.
