But startups see rich pickings. “I Have A Partner”, a grey-dating app, debuted last year with bold fonts and voice messaging for slow typists. Tangdou Guangchang Wu (“Jelly Bean Square Dance”), which started out posting dance videos (with filters to iron out wrinkles), aspires to be a one-stop shop for the old. It reports over 200m downloads since its launch in 2015.
The big generalists hope to lock the oldies in early. The over-60s use four-fifths of their mobile data on WeChat, against 7% for those aged 18-35. In 2017 Tencent made a video of old-timers rapping about their confusion over tech to encourage children to set their parents up with WeChat Helper, an app assistant. People over 55 are now WeChat’s fastest-growing cohort. Last year Taobao, Alibaba’s online emporium, introduced a “pay-for-me” option for elderly customers to use with family members. The site broadcasts daily over 1,000 live-streaming shows aimed at them. Ele.me, a food-delivery service bought by Alibaba last year, is trialling meal and medicine deliveries for the elderly, and one-off help with things like changing light bulbs. With the over-60s’ share of the population expected to double to one-third by 2050, there is wisdom in this strategy.

better-off表示having more money than someone else or than you had before有较多钱的; 比较宽裕的，是well-off的比较级形式，比如They are much better off than us.他们比我们富得多。
Well off表示having a lot of money, or enough money to have a good standard of living有钱的，富裕的;比如富裕家庭的孩子就可以说children from well-off families
【近义词拓展】“有钱”我们还可以说：rich , wealthy，well-heeled，well-to-do，deep pocketed
其他几个表达都比较常见，deep pocketed这个词在外刊中经常出现，意思也非常的生动，字面意思是口袋深的，口袋深，装的钱就多，所以，deep-pocketed的意思是“有钱的，财力雄厚的”，可以用来指人，也可以指公司。在口语表达与写作中，可以用来替换rich。

比如说在经济学人一篇关于经济学人国外企业要打入中国市场难如登天的文章中，就用过这个表达：
The problem is that the market is enormous, complicated and opaque. It is also hyper-competitive, thanks to a proliferation of both low-cost locals and deep-pocketed multinational companies.
Rattled（俚语）慌乱的; 激动得不知所措的。
Pickings表示money or profits that you can get easily from a situation容易得来的钱（利润）:
There were rich pickings (=a lot of money) to be had from the stock market.股市里大有赚头。
There are rich pickings to be had by investing in this sort of company.
向这类公司投资大有油水可捞。
相反，能赚的不多，就可以说slim picking，比如：
There were only slim pickings to be made at the fair.在交易会上只能捞些小油水。
Debut在文中用作动词，表示首次演出; 问世，面世:to appear in public or become available for the first time，举个例子：
The show will debut next Monday at 8.00pm.这出戏首演时间是在下星期一晚 8 点。Ralph Lauren debuted his autumn collection in Paris last week.拉尔夫·劳伦的秋季服饰系列上周在巴黎面世。

iron out 解决;消除；If you iron out difficulties, you resolve them and bring them to an end.举个例子：
It was in the beginning, when we were still ironing out problems.那是在刚开始,我们还在着力解决问题。The various groups had now managed to iron out their differences.各团体现在已努力消除了彼此间的分歧。
wrinkle/'rk()l/皱纹: wrinkles are lines on your face and skin that you get when you are old，比如他的脸上布满了皱纹，就可以说：His face was covered with wrinkles.
此外wrinkle也可以用作动词，表示（使）起皱纹; （使）皱起，比如：
Carter wrinkled his forehead in concentration.卡特全神贯注，眉头紧锁。
His brow wrinkled when he saw us.他看见我们的时候皱起了眉头。
one-stop shop一站式商店，一站式的意思是让顾客享受到一次性完成或一步到位的便捷（俗称一条龙服务），不再需要东奔西走，省时省力。
launch这里是名词，表示〔新产品的〕投放市场，〔新书的〕发行: when a new product, book etc is made available or made known，比如：
the launch of a new women's magazine一本新女性杂志的发行
a new product launch 新产品的推出
Launch也可以用作动词，表示to make a new product, book etc available for sale for the first time把〔新产品、新书等〕投放市场，出版，发行，比如：
The company hopes to launch the new drug by next October.公司希望于明年十月前推出这种新药。

generalist本义指多面手，多才多艺者 a person who knows about many different things and can do many things well，原文中The big generalist结合文章背景，就是什么都有，功能很齐全的应用，能大致理解出这个意思即可，译文翻为了大型综合平台。
four-fifths五分之四，注意分子是one，two这种序数词，分母是基数词，当分子大于一时，分母用复数，比如这里的5分之四，分母fifth要加s，而同一段后面出现的one-third则不需要。
cohort /'kht/(有共同特点或举止类同的)一群人，一批人：a group of people who share a common feature or aspect of behaviour，举个例子：
a cohort of 386 patients aged 65 plus386 名 65 岁以上的一群病人
She speaks for a whole cohort of young Japanese writers.
她是所有日本年轻作家的代言人。
Emporium/em'prm/ 大百货商店；大型商场 a large shop / store
broadcast广播; 播送:to send out radio or television programmes
The interview was broadcast live across Europe.这次采访向全欧洲现场直播。

Trial在文中是动词，表示〔全面彻底地〕测试，试验，试用: to thoroughly test something to see if it works correctly or is effective，举个例子：
These techniques were trialled by teachers in 300 schools.这些方法经过了 300 所学校的老师的试用。
也可以用作名词，比如They have been treated with this drug in clinical trials.他们已在临床试验中接受过这种药物的治疗。
I took the car out for a trial on the roads我开车上路试驾了一下。
The robots have been on trial for the past year.这些机器人过去一年都在试用当中。
【短语积累】trial and error反复试验；不断摸索：the process of solving a problem by trying various methods until you find a method that is successful，比如：
Children learn to use computer programs by trial and error.
儿童通过反复摸索才学会运用计算机程序。
one-off help一次性帮助，这里one-off表示 一次性的；非经常的：made or happening only once and not regularly，比如a one-off payment 一次性付款。
Double（使）加倍:to become twice as big or twice as much, or to make something twice as big or twice as much，举个例子：
Within two years the company had doubled in size.在两年时间内，这家公司的规模扩大了一倍。
The church has doubled its membership in the last five years.这座教堂的会众在过去的五年里增加了一倍。
